Wages are almost irrelevant to prices in Manhattan restaurants, even McD. The vast majority of operating cost is for rent. $10/square foot per month is normal nowadays. It goes up from there.Note: demand holds down prices too, of course. If not for the reluctance of people to pay an absolute fortune for each meal, landlords would charge even more rent and resaurant owners would charge even more for meals. |
