The ferry spur ran straight along Broadway to Kent Ave. There were 2 stops, Broadway Ferry and Driggs Ave. The Broadway Ferry stop was a double decked station with 2 tracks and a center island platform on each level. At the other end, east of Marcy Ave, was a center storage track running as far as Keap Street. However, the BF lower level was never used, so only the upper level served LIRR Rockaway lines, BRT Canarsie, and Broadway lines, until 1908. After that, these trains used the Williamsburg Bridge to either Canal or Chambers Streets, from 1908-1916, In 1908, the BRT acquired an unwanted Boston lightweight steel el car. It provided shuttle service from 1908 until 1916, when the ferry shut down and the BRT/LIRR joint el services ended.

After 1916, the spur was kept intact for 2 reasons. First, there was a serious shortage of steel subway cars, so the bankrupt (1921) BRT used wooden gate cars for rush hour Broadway -Brooklyn service (until 1927). Secondly, the City was pondering a re-opening of ferry service- but not to Grand St, Manhattan. They wanted a municipal ferry to run to East 23rd St. As late as 4/17/21, the NY Times had an article about this service restoration. But, it never came to pass ·
