You really think it reasonable to increase Amtrak's budget that high, especially when the "competing" modes don't have anywhere near that annual appropriation?Actually the FHWA's annual expenditure is about $43 billion. Funny how back when the right was selling our profitable rail system down the river for their "defense" highway network, and in the 45 years since, there was no concern over disproportionate spending levels between modes. But now that's your excuse for not increasing Amtrak's funding? Way to show just how anti-rail you really are. |
