It is a shame that our national priorities were so obfuscated during that era. Sure, STALIN was a nutcase and you don't let the Russians come to dinner without counting the silver afterwards but Eastern Europe was complicit in the Holocaust and many of those countries welcomed and FOUGHT ALONGSIDE the Nazis. As for Germany, its partition was justified and should have been made permanent. China and the Far East is where the US should have drawn an even harder line against Russia than we did. After Stalin died in 1953, there should have been a thaw just because the lunatic was gone. |
