In other words:Can you say conclusively that the people involved in the incidents after the parade were at the parade? Can you say conclusively that the violence was caused by the parade? People get into fights every day of the year, in all kinds of locations. Isn't it possible that these people got into violence that, though it on the day of the parade, had nothing to do with the parade? That's why my OP says the parade itself took place, and ended, without any incidents of violence. Here, you and other posters are suggesting post hoc, ergo propter hoc. |

The violence was caused BY the parade. No different than some altercation on the train after the St Patricks Day parade, or some gay bashing after the gay parade. If not for those parades, they wouldn't have happened, and are caused directly by the element the parade attracts. The big difference being that it's usually violence after the West Indian parade, whereas most of the other parades are just a bunch of drunks. |
