It's always a small number of troublemakers causing the trouble. The net result is still that 2 people were shot, 2 were stabbed and if the reports are correct, 2 of them are dead. No one is suggesting that anyone be deported. Just because Selkirk is AWOL tonight does not mean that we need to fill the vacuum he's left. BUT government's duty is to protect the citizens. If they can't do it with police presence, what would you suggest? |

I myself did not go..but I was kept in the loop by my child[the one who was dancing]..and made sure she was able to drive outta there without problems[like what happened to the young man tonight].. Its a shame that people ,after YEARS of COMING to this thing,STILL choose to behave like idiots..even with the ARMY of law enforcement ready to do body and fender work on the nearest asshole.. My daughter made it back to MY home..now shes on the road..going to HER home..safely AFTER celebrating our culture and history. |

In other words, as I've noted from my nephew, you can tell a bunch of kids in the ghetto to act more middle class, and some of them couldn't be bothered to listen. If the parade emotions and possibly the incidental drinking lead to this much carnage every year then government has an obligation to protect the citizenry. Which is why NYPD has such heavy presence at this parade, but it's highly unlikely that you'll see the termination of the parade permit in future years. |
