All covered. You'll have to forgive bingbong for worrying about people other than herself. We both know LOTS of people who've been shafted by insurance companies and when I worked for somebody ELSE, both of us got shafted. We solved that problem. But there's still plenty of people who go to the emergency room for a toothache and add thousands to YOUR taxes because they don't have insurance. |

Bingbong benefits from buying her own insurance. And it costs up the ass owing to the "pre-existing" shit. That "pre-existing" shit however only existed because the insurance company she was with at the time BEFORE the "pre-existing" condition refused to treat the condition. So she had to go to ANOTHER insurance company and guess what happened? :(This doesn't benefit her personally, we're paying to play. But there's plenty of others who are without insurance going through exactly what SHE went through. I guess maybe it comes down to the religious values we were born with and raised in that you take care of OTHERS and advocate for them instead of just yourself. Maybe that's it but spiritually, this injustice is important to us even if it doesn't directly apply to us. Does that help to explain it? |

I have an acquaintance who benefits the same way (I think). That was what I was referring to. |

You really need to cut through the left-wing rhetoric. They (republicans) have repeatedly said that there are many provisions of o'bummercare that are good and should be kept. The pre-existing condition provision, the children under 26 and the doughnut hole provisions among them. |

You're not going to get an argument from me about the need for healthcare reform. I think o'bummercare was overkill in so much that it put 1/6 of our economy under the control of the government. You disagree and that's fine. We can debate the mechanism but stop the nonsense that republicans didn't want healthcare reform. |

Try and kill that now.Personally, I still think that single payer would have been the way to go, that would have also solved the medicare mess. We're the only industrialized nation left that doesn't have single payer and it's a major reason why jobs go overseas since business is expected to fund health care instead of the citizens through their government like other places. We pay zero for healthcare for those who work for us in other countries and it's also a major reason why we're not "competitive" despite our insanely superior productivity. Anyhoo, gotta go code now ... that's what I get paid to do. Moo. :) |

Respectfully, the government ended up with zero percent of the pie once the compromise was done. The insurance industry gets one hundred percent of that pie PLUS you're forced to buy from the insurance industry as though it were the mafia. No escape or you pay a penalty. This is why I get my ass up in the air over the utter bullshit that people actually believe because the talking lamp of the industry told them so.When you pay your health premium, who do you make the check out to? The fallacy is that with the provision for coverage of a pre-existing condition, The penalty tax works out cheaper than the coverage. You get sick, you apply for coverage. They cost almost as much as a private policy (which runs $1700./month in much of NY but does not cover pre-existing conditions if they'll sell it...my experience) due to their limited revenue scope. That is financially punishing when such is not ethical nor reasonable. Pre-existing condition coverage is ONLY reasonable when spread through the entire population. Period. You clearly know nothing about insurance. Not that you need to care, you have, affordably. |

The figures for the penalty were based on the industry's own actuarials to come out WAY ahead in the deal. Putting aside the prattle from the TV and radio, look into the Kaiser deal along with the pharmaceutical industry deal that paved the way for this all to happen. It isn't the pre-existing condition part of the equation that hurt the industry, it was the emergency rooms for toothaches. By making EVERYBODY pay in, they get the benefit of all those people who won't be costing more than the annual checkup. When the HMO deals were made back in Reagan's time, this was proven until people bailed from that plan. That's WHY the mandate. Rest assured that the industry signed off on this. Ever wonder why all the complaints about Obamacare AREN'T coming from the insurers? |

You take my calling the hypocrisy personally. I sit on a personal level? Isn't that what every vote come to?
