The thing is....people obviously are moving to these Stepford Wives sort of communities, and they keep building them and filling them, so obviously there is demand, or they wouldn't be selling them....It's irrelevant whether they keep popping up...as long as there are people to fill them, what difference does it make. Just don't move to one....it's not like there aren't other places to live. |

They are the only thing that break up the monotony of Manhattan's grid system. Grid systems have their place, but they are certainly not always the best layout to take. I think it works well in a location like Manhattan which is relatively small, and Broadway is certainly a godsent in the middle of the monotony. But in general, I don't like it in areas like Brentwood, Deer Park, North Bellport, and many other places where the grid system strikes it's hard lines through the landscape. I feel it works well in urban areas, but not in suburban areas. |

That still counts as a grid rather than a hierarchy because there are numerous cross streets which connect to parallel or roughly parallel routes. If I didn't like Broadway I could use 7th Avenue, or 5th, or 9th. |

I have no problem with requiring some sort of driver's ed course in order to obtain a driver's license.The course should be available to anyone of legal age who wishes to learn to drive. Those who do not wish to learn to drive should not be expected to take the course or to pay for it. |

An unbelted driver may be thrown out of his seat - and away from the steering wheel - in a collision. A belted driver is more likely to remain in proximity to the steering wheel. |

If your car is in gear, and your clutch is not depressed the car will come to abrupt stop and stall the motor with a manual. If your shifter is in neutral, the car will keep going. I've had a lot of stick-shift cars. |

Sweet potato and apple pie. I love southern cooking. It is 2007 and low-fat good tasting food, is few and far between. Pickled pigs feet and chitterlings (aka shitlins), I ain't touchin' though. |

And your local municipality probably has a free public lending library, even if you have no use for it. There are some things that benefit enough people that it makes sense to have everyone pay for them according to their ability rather than according to their need. |

There is a market for it and there is a ready supply. And with Fresh Kills shut, the city is out of landfill space.
