It was a styrophone container, with two sides, where the "lettuce and tomato stayed cold", and "the burger stayed hot - till you put them together". Then the styrophone band back then....and they did it in paper, with a ring, but it killed the whole purpose of the Mc DLT. |

I don't think it's a bad thing, as yes, they do take forever to disappear...but what can they use instead, especially for things that leak? Sometimes you jusyt need something like that. what I find reprehensible are delis, etc that still use styrofoam cups for coffee. There is absolutely no need for them. At 7-11's for example in Suffolk, they use paper cups....in the city and in other states I have been to, they still use styrofoam. Why? No reason to not use paper cups. |

There's a fried chicken place near me that uses the styrofoam take out containers for the chicken, and the chicken is so hot when it comes out, that they put a slice of bread at the bottom to not only soak up the grease, but also to prevent the chicken from melting through the styrofoam when they first place it in the take out container. the parts of the chicken that doesn't touch the bread melts the styrofoam. |

I just hate the ban outright. Yet another "nanny" law forced onto the masses by the liberal Democratic City Council and a compliant mayor. Let's see, what else have they banned recently: - Trans-fats. A back-door way of making the M-7's more comfortable? - Aluminum bats. Despite no scientific data proving they're more dangerous than wooden bats. - The word "nigger". At least I can still say "Sup, bitch" when I see our city council speaker on the street. At least for now. |

I totally agree with you about "Nanny State Laws", such as the ridiculous trans-fat thing, seat belt laws, even many of the smoking laws, as well as the ridiculously high drinking age, which just encourages kids to do it illegally and un supervised. THOSE are nanny laws. I rather have kids drinking beer legally at a bar at 19, where it's somewhat in a controlled enviroment, rather than them doing it on the downlow in someone's basement.But that's not in the same category as using a "paper cup" or "paper take out container" instead of styrofoam that never rots. |

I agree with you completely...on all three of those things mentioned (and I put those three things on the same level as seatbelt laws and helmut laws, smoking laws, etc. However, I see no problem with protecting the enviroment from a substance that doesn't rot for centuries. That's not the same thing as the "walking through cars", trans fat, aluminum mbat, seatbelt laws, the "nigger" word ban, etc, etc, which yes, those are nanny laws. This is not a "nanny" law. |

Therefore they are in the public benefit and legitimate types of legislation.Smoking laws have improved my quality of life dramatically, and I'm far from alone in feeling that way. I agree that bans on aluminum bats, walking though cars, and calling people annoying names don't particularly help the public good. |
