No I didn't care for your politics back then because around 2002 when I retired from teaching our faculty used to argue with fervor and sometimes anger at different opinions and then walk out of the faculty dining room or teacher's lounge smiling and in arm-in-arm. That changed around 2015 when Donald Trump walked down the escalator and all hell broke loose, most of the turmoil from the Democrats who hated the Trumper from the get go. Sorry I didn't remember your name and not sure you gave it but since we all got along on those two trips I made I figure you and I hit it off. The GOP/MAGA platform currently seems to value cruelty and enriching Donald Trump above all else, with a secondary priority of gutting the government while the richest Americans pay far less than their fair share. I believe people should follow the rules of a community, and if there is an issue with those rules, use the existing systems to change them. (We also need comprehensive immigration reform so that people who want to come to the United States can do so legally and without jumping through nearly as many hoops.) I don't support the legalization of marijuana and the like. Talk to me long enough and you might discover other issues where I'm not as "liberal" as some here would like to think I am. But if you want my honest opinion, the current Congress and presidential administration are causing irreparable harm to the United States and the rest of the world, and at the end of the day, very few people are going to be better off as a result of anything the Republican Party is currently doing. |

I saw a few clippings in school of a case once.Guy was working on his car in brooklyn. Got into a fight with someone for looking at his girl. Resulted in one death. Before the year was out the death penalty was carried out. These weren't even the worst of the worst gangbangers they would do away with, and it was shockingly quick. Once you go through the dates and one case, you understand the old films where the person is afraid of the chair. It didn't even take that much to get in there. |

Where we disagree thoroughly is when you think our country will be worse off when Trump's term ends in early 2029. I happen to believe strongly that we are going to see a surge of prosperity that most Americans here legally can get behind and support.We had four years of rot from an administration that couldn't even tie their shoes properly, a President who was a walking comatose relic who your party tried to prop up with lies, lies and more lies. Now it is our turn to try and revive a country that badly needs reviving. We will have to wait until 2029 to see how it all ends up but I will take bets that my side will see that we are much better off than we were on Inauguration day this year. In the late 70’s/early 80’s West Germany was offering significant sums as well as job training, housing, and other benefits to Jews who wanted to leave Communist Soviet Union. Others remained in the Soviet Union and regretted it. Stalin had forced that wing of the family East so when they miraculously survived Stalin they ended up surviving the Holocaust because Hitler never made it that far. |
