For example, a large minority of thyroid patients respond better on natural thyroid, which is refined from pork, heart valve transplants, blood thinners commonly used for patients with clotting issues especially pre and post surgery, and I'm sure much more (seems to be more and more practically evey day). Would be a shame to deny medical care on the basis of dietary rules, no? |

When I was in california about 10 years ago, I would up stopping at a Mexican restaurant in Culver City for lunch, which apparently is very Jewish.I had no idea it was kosher when we went in, but realized it when we were there. It was very good actually....but noticably missing was the cheese that most Mexican dishes have all over it. It was missed, although the food was tasty just the same, just in a very different way. |

Kosher is about a lot more than just the not eating of Bacon. Even the ways of Cheese is regulated. Apparently most of the stuff on the shelf is forbidden.I'm not sure if I can elaborate on how far Kosher goes, even if I were qualified for that. I've tried to learn a lot of the "why's" of things. Like what is wrong with cheese for example. I quasi-given up and just trust the kosher seal on products. But it's all encompassing, like everything else with the laws, moreso than just saying "no bacon, no lobster". FWIW, I'm probably above 95% kosher now (I have a seasoning here and there that isn't kosher until I can find replacements), and I feel 1000x better without the need to fry up the bacon. |

I disagree tangentially with your assertions about quality beef. If I were a hippy, I'd say that Glatt beef is amazing. I wish "regular people" didn't avoid anything kosher like the plague. I bought a ton of ketchup for 40 cents on clearance, and candy, because they had kosher writing on it. People are stupid. |

I am confused if the term "orthodox" has changed, or what these people would be classified as. "And that is where the fear begins. The secular or Gentile residents of a neighborhood see that Orthodox families are moving in and they right away know that these people are going to open at least one synagogue, a ritual bath, at least one glatt kosher supermarket and probably one or two glatt kosher restaurants or pizza shops." I got black neighbors, Arabs from Jersulaem, muslims, Indians, etc. I never see anyone cry and vandalize things the way they do in all of these articles I see about the Jews. There's nothing this flared up in this country since the early 1960's segregation cases, and today, it's only about the Jews. |

Anybody who does not eat certain foods, be them Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Shinto, or whatever else religions there are because they think that a Supreme Being forbids them to, are FOOLS!
