It's plainly obvious that instead of only presenting the evidence that makes the police officer look bad, the DA presented evidence that also doesn't make the police officer look bad. So of course you get the "overwhelming impression that the DA did NOT want this case going to trial." It's his job to figure out what is worth the government's time prosecuting, isn't it? I don't know for sure. I'm not familiar with the process. But it seems to me that if he was "allowed" to present evidence to the GJ that wasn't necessarily supportive of an indictment, then the DA has some leeway and judgement. |

Those who were doing things like that, were part of a splinter group, not the original march organizers. The main March was overwhelmingly peaceful, and I saw no violent incidents at all.I should also note that every cop I interacted with was on his or her best behavior. They were all courteous and professional. I was a grand marshal at the March, and the cops actually made it easy. |

Generally, special or federal prosecutors are often brought in to prosecute criminal cases involving local cops, to avoid the kind of conflict of interest I'm referring to. |

I treated inmates at Rikers with the same degree of care as a cop, or the Mayor himself. It was not my job to judge the patient, but to deliver appropriate care.
