Posted by JayZeeBMT on Sat Dec 13 10:07:21 2014 Expect major street closures today in NYC and DC as two massive, parallel demonstrations protesting the recent grand jury verdicts in Ferguson and Staten Island take place. despite the cold, organizers in both cities expect tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of people to participate in the marches. The one in NYC will start at Washington Square Park in the Village, proceed north to Herald Square, then go all the way down Broadway to One Police Plaza. The NYPD says it expects to deploy thousands of cops along the march route, and around 1PP, where a rally will occur as marchers arrive.I will speak about these gross miscarriages of justice from an LGBT perspective, and add my voice to the growing chorus of people who believe that if we are to truly be a free society, we need to return to the principle that no one is above the law. |
