What's taxed is the gain above a $500,000 profit, on a married couple with an AGI of more than $250,000 ($250k profit and $125k AGI for an unmarried taxpayer). How many home sales will have that much gain? Sounds like something that makes for good copy but affects relatively few sellers. |
