Juries are charged by the judge to consider the case on the "law as [the judge] gives it to them", and only those facts that were presented at trial. You'd be surprised what juries do NOT get to see or hear at trial because one side or the other has had it excluded. I don't think this jury just wanted to "go home as soon as possibe", I think they concluded very quickly, within the parameters the judge gave them, that the DA didn't satisfy what Florida's first-degree murder law provided. |
