There was once a time when the science that provided physical evidence didn't exist. Not every trial is nice and neat, with direct physical evidence, or a confession, or an unimpeachable eyewitness.This jury had what it needed to convict had it wanted to do so. The judge would have never set aside a guilty verdict. They chose to acquit, they were not forced to by rule. |
