Using the name "Barry" for "Barack" is like using "Joe" for "Joseph", or "Russ" for "Russell", or even "Bart" for "Bartholomew".

As for the correlation of names and success, I have had bosses named Keyouwana, Daquan, and Kenyette. The first two are currently captains, and Kenyette is currently on Mayor Bloomberg's staff. Ethnic names don't necessarily impede your progress in life, although many immigrants do Anglicize their names upon arrival in the US, to avoid discrimination. I worked with a partner named Khokhar, who used "Kenny" as his name for that reason.

The other exception to this is in show business. Rock Hudson, for example, wouldn't have gone very far as "Bernie Schwartz"...
