Oh and that reminds me of another study or maybe it was the same one. Do you know what the most common reason given for people deciding to not hire black males? IIRC it was "I don't want any trouble." Black men are seen as threatening and potentially dangerous by many people that hire.Yep. It is unfortunate that there is a statistical truth to that (as there are with almost all stereotypes). You're right about the name issue. It is sad that a name would impede someone's progress. It is too bad that people allow group tendencies to make up their minds about individuals. |
