People drank less during prohibition. In that way, it actually succeeded.Similarly, gun prohibition* would invariably lead to a decrease in the availability of guns. This would almost certainly have the effect of decreasing "mass shooter events" because the nuts who perpetrate them would be less likely to obtain guns. The "outlaws" who would still have guns if you outlaw guns are organized criminals and people acquainted with them. It's the same way that the market for illicit drugs works today. *which I oppose, but that is beside the point. |
