If you feel like your life is in danger, having one day of training, or two decades of training doesn't make a lick of difference.

The purpose of the training should be to make you overcome one's reflexive fear that one's life is in imminent danger at every single provocation.

most police agencies, when you advance in your career, you have several weeks, sometimes months of training each and every year.

1. If bad habits are taught initially, then reinforcing them with additional training won't cure those bad habits.

2. From a quantitative perspective, Norway's police undergo 3 years or 156 weeks of training before they start full time. NYPD's initial 19 weeks leaves a deficit of 137 weeks. It would take 20 years of 6 week refreshers to match what the Norway policeman starts with.
