Are you suggesting that an unarmed police department would be a good idea in the U.S.?

I'm suggesting that 33.5/10M citizens killed is excessive and unacceptable. This is especially true because the US crime rate is also among the highest, excluding armed insurrections.

Most countries are less than 5/10M. Countries with the lowest number of citizens killed per capita are those whose police are not armed. Police training in these countries emphasizes how to control situations without using guns.

Even with armed insurrections, Home Secretary Winston Churchill was famous for diffusing the Sydney Street siege without guns.
