(1). ✔️ That's a reflection of the platform, makes sense.(2). They've retreated to "no taxpayer funded abortions" and "no 3rd trimester abortions" rather than none at all. I don't think Roe v Wade is in imminent danger. (3). That influence is almost gone at the federal level. The stance has moved from moral authoritarianism to more libertarian, and I've been increasingly seeing more moral authoritarianism from the left. If it were anyone other than Trump this shift would not have happened, because his younger supporters are irreligious. The party is more like NY Republican than bible belt Republican. (4). Got anything more specific? (5). ✔️ I agree with you here, I'll add that to my list. (6). Trump pushed through the First Step act against the wishes of half his base and it hasn't had any horrible side effects yet. The NYS Bail reform is a dumpster fire. I don't actually trust the Dems to do criminal justice reform right now, they're blinded by "enforcing laws is racist"... which is a pretty racist attitude to have. (7). All I've seen is they want accurate voter rolls and voter ID, those aren't bad things. I haven't followed this aspect of their platform so If I'm missing something LMK, got any specifics? |
