Voting rights are important because the elected officials tend to vote on legislation based on the way that those who vote in elections. If you narrow who is eligible to vote in elections you limit what legislation takes place. For example, if it became a law that gun owners were ineligible to vote because gun ownership except by a militia member was made a felony you would have legislatures less responsive to the rights and concerns of gun owners. |
