3 - a. Fair enough. b. I think it's almost there already. c. Yikes!
Ok maybe there's more religious influence than I thought.
4. The hyperpartisan nature of Congress is a new phenomena but getting an opposite representative is more valuable, as they're an unpredictable swing vote. No one was speculating how Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer were going to vote on impeachment, but all eyes were on Joe Manchin and Susan Collins, and the rest of the Senate had to court their votes on key issues. And minor nit, but you are choosing the individual representative, that's literally the name you're filling the circle for on the ballot :)

6. I agree on the one-sidedness of the horror stories, but the other side is saying "just give it more time" rather than actually countering. Anecdotal but it seems that only one of every 5 horror stories gets anything resembling a rebuttal. I've rebutted a few myself (without a countering news article to back me up) in discussions because initially I wanted to "reform the reform" but at this point I'm getting shouted down for being too left on the issue. The sentiment has turned to "full repeal or (R)emove (E)very (D)emocrat in November" because of the initial obstinacy of most Dems and the continued resistance from Heastie. To her credit Stewart-Cousins reacted immediately (January 3rd) in considering changes, but didn't get enough backup and now her tenure as Senate Majority leader will likely be one term.

7. From the perspective of valuing voting rights over gun rights, your argument makes sense.
