They can be lobbied by their constituents, because they actually have to keep them happy to stay in office. Events like AOC ousting Crowley in a primary are rare unicorns. For the most part, they can do whatever they want and get re-elected.If you want a congresscritter that will actually read their mail when an important bill is coming up for vote, it's better to have someone afraid of losing re-election. |
