Maybe it's done that way in Pigskuckle where you live because the quality of medicine is so poor? The hospitals in NY where my dad and brother did surgery had an anesthesiologist supervising several CRNAs. Typically both the MD and CRNA speak with the patient, and the CRNA does the job. The MD is called in only when it's a difficult case or the CRNA or surgeon requests assistance.
