In what has to be the biggest redrawing of the map since most of the Bronx bus map was blown up around 1984, these are the Brooklyn routes affected under the proposals. Reductions of service in the first and/or last hours of service are not included. 26 routes are otherwise affected.

B64: Overnight service discontinued 1 AM to 5 AM, seven days a week. In addition, service east of the Ulmer Park Depot to be discontinued (Harway Avenue service). In addition, B64 would run along 13 Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue to Xaverian High School. See also B1.

I would expected cut service to just peak hours on BM 5 and BM 2 to just weekdays on the BM 2. You can argue that the B 103 covers the connections to the BM 1/3/and 4.

The real puzzler here appears to be the N26, because those buses eventually go back as N22s. Smarter would have been to truncate to the Lake Success area.

Some of these services also may have done better using smaller vehicles. The pressure though may be on corporate park owners to run their own shuttle services, as is done in Westchester County, since the MTA is essentially pulling out of that market.

I agree... MTA really need to think it out.

I am just thinking out loud but here is my reaction to this crap.

B 61/ 77 saw that coming when the B 61 was split. B 57 assuming the B 37 route to 9 Street, why the B 57? I don't see the logic in that one.

B 67/ 69 proposal.. WTF! 1) B 69 making a left on 7 Av/ Flatbush good luck on that one. 2) Why do we need the B 69 to serve Navy Yard? 3) With this alternating of buses, would that mean more of cut service on the B 67 or more buses (waiting time for the B 67 now vs this new proposal)? There are better ideas for the B 69 (rush hour service to/from Myrtle Av/Vanderbilt)

MTA in regards to B 71 listen to me combine B 14 or restructure the route... IT is still vital.

Terminating the B 4 at CI Av and Av Z... Are you kidding me!! The bus is vital to Sheepshed Bay. Good luck B 36 riders...

B1/64 - B 86 this is a proposal been around since the 90s cutbacks.. I am split about it

B70 proposal/eliminate B 8 to Bay Ridge... Was the idea to send the B 8 to Bay ridge was to make easier connections with the SI buses? Also tell the B 70 customers that their ride will take longer and you will have to walk longer distance since it now serves 3 Av instead 7 Av

B3 - Bergen Bch - Av X portion. Could have they at least proposed a rush hour segment only. That is what it really needs.

B 12 - bad mistake. reduce hours of service to City line but don't cut it. And they proposed B 14 as alternative OMG. Could have use the Q 112 or the Q 7 as an alternative

B 13- well not going into that one.

B 48 - I saw that coming . The B 48 needs to studied it is still a vital route but when it reaches to Williamsburg the route becomes so outdated. You will see this route become a full 20 - 30 min bus very soon. Sorry to say this but I rather have the B 49 absorb this route north of Fulton. especially when the B 44 SBS comes in to play.

B 64 - The restructured B 64 might as well combine the route with the B 3.. just a thought. Again bad move.

Q 24 - understand

B2 - Just combine with the B 100 already

B 23 - either send the B 67 or the proposed B 69 to serve 16 Av. And also reorganized the B 103 bus stops on Cortelyou. CI AV (NB)/ Stratford Rd (SB), Marlborough and E 16 sts, and Ocean Av should be the stops on the B 103. They can also reroute the B 103 west of CI AV to stop at Ocean Pky/Cortelyou. then onto McDonald Av to stop at Church Av, eliminate the Albemarle Rd stop, and NB service continues on 11 Av onto the Prospect Expy.

B 39 - mention here already send it to union sq.

Someone please tell me how can I be in charge in operations planning. What b***$*** degree do I need to get to smack some idiots over there in the MTA LOL

They should combine the Q14 and Q34 already.

If they really do away with the Q14 completely, that'll leave just the Q15 and Q16, and a bit of the Q76 serving greater Whitestone. The Q14 has great ridership really only during the rush hour, so perhaps a rush hour extension of the Q34 up 149th Street would do. Everyone else will just have to walk a bit further east to the Q15.

I would suggest NYCT implement a two-transfer bus transfer system, for those people who would have to take an extra bus to get to downtown Flushing.

However, I do wonder if service should be reduced to hourly service to Downtown Brooklyn on Sundays (daily service remains intact).

As for the B64/B82 situation, I wonder if the B82 should have service further reduced to Coney Island (except during summers) with the B64 and B82 alternating down lower Cropsey Avenue to provide service to the businesses near the end such as Home Depot, and to increase reliability on the B82.

There has to be an Ulmer Park route that can be moved to Gleason to improve B82 reliability, which should be at least partially assigned to Ulmer Park, with no deadheads.

My thing with them cutting Q79 service is that while Little Neck Parkway isnt a major destination, it would make commuting on that stretch a mess because you would have to use the Q30/36/43/46 and Q27 to loop around. You wouldnt even be able to get the Q12 without either taking the Q27 to Flushing or doing a 2 bus x-fer.

X51: I dont see the point in them cutting this route yet somehow the QM3 (which I'm sure is even more of a waste) survives. At least combine the 2 routes

Q42: can easily be replaced with the Q4 (every 3rd local bus serves that routing and makes a right on Sayres back to Merrick)

They've been trying to can the Bx18 since they got the Bx24 and its not going to happen people will fight the fact none of the other routes over there are decent alternatives.

What is the MTA's fixation with chopping up the Co-op City service. If they just added LTD service on the Bx28 things could be left alone. that CC idea isnt going to fly with Bx8 riders at all and just looks bad

Not as many since they can just take the subway, but there was at least 7 people on the bus [me included]. The bus before me [ended at Av H and Nostrand] was packed.

True, but riding is much heavier on the southern/eastern part of the route, so much so that when Kingsborough College is in session a great deal of short service is operated between either 86th Street & Stillwell Avenue or the Ocean Parkway subway station and the college. That makes running the route out of Ulmer Park Depot much more cost-effective than running it out of Gleason.

I went to Dewey (admittedly when the buses had square wheels made out of stone and were pulled by dinosaurs), but I don't remember any great number of Dewey students riding the B64. Has that changed?

I'm amazed that the Q84 managed to escape being cut while the Q75 gets cut. Of course, the Q75 is basically overlapped by other routes, so if you have an unlimited card, it's only time that's being lost while transferring, while for pay-per-ride users, it's going to be a pain if they use their transfers already while getting to the Q75...

Q79: Service discontinued.

I think they're going to have to start paying home-care workers enough to own cars...

They have to cut. While some percentage of their deficit is due to malfeasance, I do not believe that this number is 100%. The main issues are making sure that a realistic budget comes out of this and that the cuts are reasonable.

Paterson cut another $104M from their general fund allocation. I'm just waiting for the remaining payroll tax shortfall. I am guessing that there is another $100M to fall behind.

And also getting rid of Jones Beach bus service is shooting themselves in the foot, those bus lines are one of LIB's biggest money makers. No buses to Jones Beach would make Robert Moses proud.

With the Q75, you don't really have that far to travel to get to Springfield Blvd to get bus service (Q27).

As for the Q84, you are basically in "NO MAN'S LAND". Meaning, you ain't got shit near you. Especailly on 120th Av EAST of Francis Lewis Blvd to the last stop. Also, along 120th Av between Springfield Blvd and Farmers Blvd is a HUGE distance.

Oh yeah, one more thing.....the Q84 has MORE RIDERSHIP than the Q75. So um yeah....that's another reason why the Q84 is not being cut.
