In those days a/c on NYCTA/MABSTOA largely worked barely more than 2-3 years after they were delivered. I do remember that FI seemed to be the exception as many of their '69/'70 4000-series Flxibles had functioning a/c right into the late 70's. Giving some credit... I do recall that KB was able to keep the a/c working on some of their 8000s (8301-8371) well into the 70s.
