In 1978, when only about 5 percent of the A/C buses were functioning, WCBS TV did a story which probably was just an MTA press release stating that virtually the entire fleet was now air conditioned. I was so pissed, I felt I just had to call the reporter to ask him what good is it having a completely air conditioned fleet if virtually none of them are actually working?.The reporter happened to be John Tesh. And I happened to know WCBS TV's phone number, because they had the best number which was 765-4321. So I picked up the phone and unlike today, someone answered who said, "WCBS, can I help you." I said, "Yes, I would like to speak to John Tesh." He said, " John, it's for you," They didn't even ask who I was and what it was about. Then I heard, "John Tesh." I explained what was wrong with his story and he gave me some BS answer that they will do a follow-up, which they never did. I couldn't believe that I could actually speak to him. That is something that would never happen today. |
