The trolley looks like a Williamsburg Bridge shuttle car, so I will guess it's the Manhattan side of said line.

This is a rough one. Unless you can determine the operating company or the type of trolley cars we are looking at, or you know the junction or street on which the trolley line is on were pretty mush reduced to guesses.
My guess is, the Bronx, possibly, at 138th St and Willis Ave, c.1905.
That may be the 3rd Ave El in the background and those are Union Electric Rwy cars. The shuttle may go the NYNH&H Harlem River Terminal.

If that were the 3 Av El in the background, it would not be Willis Av since the el ran in the alley between Willis and Alexander Av and it would be a lot closer in the photo. You might be on the right track about it being in the Bronx and even 138 St since 138 is a wide street but it would have to be a few blocks either east or West of Willis depending on which direction we are looking in.

Just above the left top of the 'y" in the (incredibly annoying) "Mystery Photo" watermark, there is a sign on the trolley that seems to say "Bridge Plaza."

Given the wide expanse of open space on the right of the photo and the viaduct in the distance, I am going to venture that this is Borden Avenue in Long Island City, near the foot of the East River Ferry, with the LIRR LIC yard on the right.

The viaduct in the background would be the old Vernon Avenue-Manhattan Avenue bridge.

Bill, you are quick to defend Joe Saitta. But how do you know that Joe Saitta purchases each and every photo he's ever shown? How do you know that Joe Saitta doesn't steal other people's photos off the web AND host them online in his own hosting account WITHOUT giving any credit? If Joe Saitta wants to be part of this community, maybe he shouldn't make his guess the location photos highly annoying to look at. And maybe Joe Saitta also shouldn't shamelessly and/or underhandedly promote his ebay auctions. I'd say it is clearly Joe Saitta that has the "shaky sense of right and wrong" and not the people who just want to see a clean photo.

TV and Radio personalities, Bob & Ray, used to do Piels commercials back in the late 50's and early 60's. I believe that they were cartoon commercials. I think Piels went out of business or were bought out soon after that time. I do not think I ever drank any Piels. I do not remeber Piels being on tap in any of my Bronx neighborhood bars.
Anyway, here is a old view of the 138th St Gatway to the Bronx.

I had a client (now deceased) that was a sales manager for Piels. Not knowing all the details, he was receiving royalties on the sale. Apparently beer sales are paid for by a cents per gallon measurement. According to Wikipedia the brand was sold to somebody in 1963. My earliest records are from 1986, and it ran for many years after that.

The brand was sold to Stroh's in the 1980's and then Stroh's along with Piels and Schaeffer were sold to Pabst.

If you can move the perspective in Google Maps to show the building head-on, you will see that the circular brick ornamentation is still in the center. This is apparently the lone survivor of what was once a busy and vibrant commercial street, a major junction of road, trolley and train traffic from throughout Queens to the Manhattan ferry. It is hard to believe, looking at the current desolate streetscape.

I lived in Milwaukee in the 80's. I remember when Stroh's, of Detroit, attempted to take over a corner of the beer world. Schlitz went out of business. I used to go there for the tours. The beer they served on the tours was the best American beer I ever drank. I think the people who brewed Old Style, out in LaCrosse, WI, took over everything in Milwaukee except Miller. Even the Blatz name was revived for a while.
The old CMStP&P Beer Line, as it was called, ran righr into downtown from the north, supplied the breweries there. I had hoped that they would convert it to light rail use, but it never came to pass. (Keep the thead on topic)
Back in the Bronx, Reingold, Schaffer, Pabst and Balantine were our mainstays.

That was, as one fellow kindly mentioned, the Vernon Boulevard Bridge, which connected Brooklyn and Queens. It was taken down after the nearby Pulaski Bridge, I believe it was, opened. The Vernon Boulevard Bridge carried the Graham Avenue streetcar line, which was the only BRT / BQT trolley line, I believe, to serve three boroughs, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. After the streetcars were abandoned, they were replaced by the 62-Graham trolleybus line until the bridge was closed and then demolished. Today, the streetcar loop at Vernon Boulevard and 50th Avenue still exists, but is paved over and is a commercial parking lot. Some of the streetcar rail, however, is still visible in the lot and on Vernon Boulevard. At this location, the tracks of the BQT / BRT crossed the tracks of the Steinways Lines' Vernon Boulevard route but there was never any physical connection between them.

Not to go off topic, but I seem to remember a 'bridge to nowhere' in that vicinity back in the late 50s-early 60s. Does anyone know if the main span of the Vernon Boulevard bridge was demolished first and the approach structure on the LIC side was left for some time afterward?

It sounds strange but I have this memory of riding in the family car through that neighborhood and seeing a derelict steel structure that abruptly ended in mid-path.

Piels was already basically gone when I "came of drinking age", or you didn't see it around much.

When I was younger I used to drink cheap beer too, but now I really like stuff with more taste. Although every now and again, I don't mind a "Budweiser", but usually it has to be something better.
Interestingly, when it's warm out I am more apt to go for a cheaper lighter beer.

Hahaha, of course the World's fair was way before my time, but I guess on a similar note, I remember when I was about 22 or so, I was at Sea World with a few friends in Orlando, and that is owned by Anheuser Busch (or it used to be, I have no idea now). Anyway, they used to have a tasting room for free, and we would spend an hour in there "sampling" dixie cups of all their beers. Can't get cheaper than that! I don't even know if they still do that there.

LaTobe, Pa, I thought that was where Quaker State Motor Oil and Arnold Palmer came from. My favorite Penna Beer was Stegmeyer, out of Scranton. They had a god ale and porter also.
