If you can move the perspective in Google Maps to show the building head-on, you will see that the circular brick ornamentation is still in the center. This is apparently the lone survivor of what was once a busy and vibrant commercial street, a major junction of road, trolley and train traffic from throughout Queens to the Manhattan ferry. It is hard to believe, looking at the current desolate streetscape. |
