I was wondering how they ever resolved the issue of not enough capacity on some of the tracks. So I saw it first hand last week when I posted there early, and my trainer was doing a couple of those adds in the station.I like the little one car length platforms they have on the first few tracks, which I first noticed when I was a kid. I'm supposed to be road posting on a putin job there tomorrow, if the person takes students. Also from what I saw, it is all 1's at 137 now. |

They do the Adds in the Station and the Cuts just South of the Station at 145th Street.If you do a Put In look for that Yellow Marker at 145th Street then you are Behind X110 Ball.. They are Double-Ended anyways so the T/O on the North End will give you a Buzz when you are clear. Ah so they give you a job huh? I have to report to a terminal and wait for a trainer.. Since im a A to B Transfer i dont wait long.. The T/O i posted with at Met had me smiling he sees me walk in and frst thing he said was "A to B"? I said "Yeah".. He Said "Ill take you".. Still got Three more Weeks of this Stuff man.. |

Didn;t know they had already considered it.They could always still use such a conversion, and eliminate the cuts and adds they have to do at Lenox. Move more 3's to Livonia, and the 2's and 5's from Livonia to Linden, and it would be even nicer if they could connect Linden to Flatbush. |

But how would the dead man work? When you let go of it, what would it it do to actvate the emergency brakes?I always wondered about simply having the dead man be the "emergency" position itself. So when you let go of it from any position besides full service, it would snap back to emergency (with enough force to pass the full service notch). However, if the springs are not set right, you might have a possibility of them being strong enough to move it to emergency even if it is stopped in the full service notch. Otherwise, that would work with your "rack" handle! |

Well riding the 2 for 2 years now i can say the 2 always leaves from the northbound platform and the 5 leaves from the southbound platform. 90% of the time the 2 terminates on the NB side and the 5 on the SB side.However the 10% when they swap ends like the 2 on the SB track and the 5 the NB track the train changes designation and becomes the 2 on the NB track and the 5 on the SB track. |

Things are going to get very very interesting as far as handling OOS trains if I ever get this 2007 BAHN Simulation of the NYC Subway off the ground, which is one of the reasons I've kept my eyes open about the unexpected daily routines that NYCTA does. My LIRR real-life BAHN sim has about a month worth of programming left before that one's done....unlike the BAHN layouts that currently exist, I build REAL yards rather than a depot deposit box. |

Yeah, they showed me the moves there.The posting paper assigns to specific jobs, but it can always change, so it says "SEE DISP." Not only if the person doesn't take students, but even if they CAN'T (if they themselves are probational, like on Fri. with the 2222 job I was supposed to have). I ended up doing the last trip with an earlier T/O, and then the last trip with another. SO your training IS longer. I just have the 3 tomorrow, and then the 4. and that's it. And this pushed back a week as it was, because I had vacation last month. |

I noticed when gripping the R-142(A) handle that it's easier if you keep your hand off-center, so that more "natural" pressure is applied to keeping the handle from twisting back. Of course, you keep your hand off-center on the part you want twisted toward you.It feels good when locked in Emergency, but I suppose I wouldn't have much experience with what it would feel like in Max Power. ;-) |

Not because of the handles, of course, though the 160 handles will be a relief.I just wanted to try it out, to see something different. It was so interesting, meeting the class in an all new place everyday just like in the beginning, and now getting to see all these other lines I had never worked. I've even been having dreams about working the A. Div. for a couple of years. I pick in the south anyway, because I don't like the weekend jobs over here in the north (4×J; 3×C, any A, OPTO M, etc), so the traveling is not all that different between the A Div. jobs I have, and B South, but obviously, the B is more where I belong. The ideal jobs would be the M out of Met on weekdays, and 2×C's out of Euclid on weekends. Bt there are not to many of those. Perhaps if they do the lower Manhattan project soon, and have the E to Euclid (which would never be more than two trips). If I could get that all five days, that would be fine. I was thinking about staying here the winter pick and going back next summer as well, but I'm not sure what the pickings would be like in the winter. There might be less RDO reliefs, since less people pick VR in the winter, and I don't want to take the chance with VR, since I know nothing about what that is like over there, and especially after getting socked with late PM's almost this whole last winter pick. Considering the A Div. being smaller; I can't afford to take that chance with such faraway places like 241, 242 and Dyre. 207 at 1:30AM clearing was bad enough. So what's left of this pick is just enough to get a feel of what it is like. Then I can say I did the whole system. (though on the east side and the 7, it will only have been posting. I wish I could get jobs on those lines this Wed. and Thurs. when I most likely go extra list on my RDO's from still having Sat. and Sun off this week. Also, they never did qualify me on the Grand Central Shuttle. I guess that's only if you pick on it). I would probably like to come back down the line, especially when I have a better chance of picking better jobs, especially on the east side. the change will kep me from getting tire of one division. I wonder how long you go in one division before you have to be requalified int he other division. I think some in the class had been away for 3 years, and they had to be requalified. I don't want to have to go through all that again, so maybe I might have to go back and forth more frequently that that. I also wonder if they allow people who are qualified in both to work overtime in the other division from the one they are in that particular time. That would also be a way to see something different for a change every now and then, andkeep myself refreshed in that division. |

Pm's: 2/3/5 Put Ins and 2/3/4/5 lay ups. Of the course the 4 lay ups becomes the first two trains out of New Lots to begin the midnite service. Then again I havent been in the A div since Nov '03 and things are subject to change.............. Im just a passenger in the A div. |

The 0745+ out of W/PRD also goes to New Lots, but goes back north 5 minutes later. There aren't any 2's coming out of New Lots in the AMs (unless you count the 0625 and 0704 out of Flatbush that started this thread), and no PM layups there (unless you count 2112 and 0005 which terminate at Flatbush). As for the 4, the 1642 and 1655 out of Woodlawn are the only 4's that layup at New Lots, but only the 2327+ is a putin as the first 4 out of New Lots. The 2340+ (second 4 out of New Lots) comes from the 2217+ out of Woodlawn. The other 4 goes back into service as the 0713+ which starts running express at Utica. I'm just a passenger in both divisions, but I know how to read a timetable. |

In train talk, a putin is the first revenue service run for a train after it has spent time layed up in a yard or some other layup track. There are special inspections that a crew must do to a putin before it begins the run. Putin is an abbreviation for Put-In, and has nothing to do with any person, living or dead. |
