The Spring Garden Station closure on the Broad-Ridge Spur made sense at the time: Few people used it, and even now there really isn't the development there to warrant re-opening it (and the line does not run on Sundays). The station on the main branch of the Broad Street line is two blocks away (the spur station was at 12th Street).

It's always appropriate to have the Alpha and Omega of the R-1/9 fleet at the points for museum and holiday trips.

The two track island platform with bumpers at the south end is known as "Hudson Terminal"

At the Hudson Terminal part of the station, there was an island platform and a side platform. I don't recall trains ever opening to the side platform. The wall tiles said "H and M" (for "Hudson and Manhattan", the former name of the PATH system), while the pillars said "CHMBRS". Note the original 1960's-style platform-edge signs, which were black type on white background, the opposite of today.

The shame was in 1966 when the buildings were torn down to make way for the World Trade Center they didn't think of using the construction of the WTC to connect those bumper tracks to the Montague Street portion of the Broadway line in lower Manhattan, potentially allowing for it and Broadway line trains to use such and create additional operational flexibility.

Not sure that would be possible due to the different kind of cars those use.

The problem with doing that would be that it would create an at grade junction like 143rd St/Lenox and Bway/Myrtle. The TA would if and where possible like to eliminate such junctions rather than create new ones. If the TA wanted to do that then it could have created a junction between the Bway and 6th Ave tks leading to the north side of the Manny B and connected the Nassau St tks to the south tks of the Manny B which would have allowed for additional routes and service patterns.
