The shame was in 1966 when the buildings were torn down to make way for the World Trade Center they didn't think of using the construction of the WTC to connect those bumper tracks to the Montague Street portion of the Broadway line in lower Manhattan, potentially allowing for it and Broadway line trains to use such and create additional operational flexibility.
