Could just be the last customer on the run or it could even be a "special order" if a customers important enough they can get single car delivery if it's an emergency like Boeing in this video. I only heard one motor rumbling as it passed. Go back and listen between the horn honks. Hazmat rule requires a buffer car between you and the load. A dead in tow would probably qualify. :) |

I didn't have the sound on LOL!! ok soo the loco could be considered in tow if it's off. I guess since the fuel tanks under the center of the loco it's far enough from the load too. |

They might have even been empty if they wanted to follow the rules. Doesn't matter what kind of barrier you have as long as it keeps the fire behind you so you can get out of there. :) |

Nope, no crossing gates there, just the overhead warning signals. The tracks cross at a very shallow angle, so the signals and the painted stop-lines are quite a ways from the tracks.I've lived here for 27 years. I don't remember any specific accidents at that crossing, although I wouldn't be surprised if there's been one or two. In a small town like this, a wreck at a crossing would be big news, on the front page of the weekly local newspaper. And that line probably carries a dozen trains or so trains per day. I looked for pics of this crossing on rrpicturearchive.net, and found this doozy: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=71124 |

No; deuterium is heavier than hydrogen due to the single neutron; normal hydrogen has no neutrons. Heavy water (deuterium oxide) is most definitely heavier than normal water, and not on a molecular (microscopic) scale but on a macroscopic scale (20 grams per mole and density of 1,107 kg/m³ for D2O versus 18 grams per mole and 1,000 kg/m³ for H2O). |

Even if both are on line they would only produce enough power to get the train going, be it one car or 100 cars. with one car both engines will deliver about 350 Hp each to get it going, and maybe about 50 HP each to keep it going. |

Most road freight units are often kept in pairs to avoid long-hod running. If they were no geeps available to go fetch a tank car then some yard foreman would have to dispatch a pair of road engines. Even if that had been a pair of Geeps, the common GP40 still produces 3000hp so a pair would be a mere 6000hp instead of 8800hp. |

Nice!!! :-)As far as overpowering, it is possible that this could have been a light engine move, and rather than pay a crew to just move light engines, they give them something to haul. This case could have simply been this empty light tank car. CSX does this up here on the River Line now between North Jersey and Selkirk. They used to run MASSIVE light engine deadhead moves, X-series train designators, sometimes in excess of 10 or more engines. Rather than pay a crew to run the light engines, sometimes only one or two engines even, they give them something to haul up with the engines and make it a complete train to justify the crew cost. Here is a video I took in Bergenfield. NJ almost 2 months ago which shows CSX X-794, North Bergen NJ to Selkirk Yard, Albany NY, where 6 light engines ended taking up a very short set of empty autoracks from the Little Ferry auto facility, with 6 light engines from North Bergen Yard. Normally this used to have been just the engines, but not anymore. |
