IMO the developer screwed up big time though - knowing the conditions of the area they should have soundproofed the building and advised all prospective buyers. I see that the principle of "caveat emptor" is alive and well!!

As we discussed previously, the issue is vibration, and the best way of preventing the most severe variety of that is to make an alteration at the source that would have the effect of 'dampening the oscillations'. If they want to put their money into that, I encourage them.

Even putting aside the high ethics of real estate agents, was asking these people to look out the window too hard. Hell, for one of these buildings where the complainers live, I saw the standard online listing, and there is an outdoor patio pictured, and beyond that, the several tracks of the railroad.
