4th Ave. as a G terminal after the viaduct construction? |

Posted by gbs on Sat Jul 4 00:38:32 2009 Since all the tracks are being ripped up during the F,G viaduct reconstruction, can't the switches be redesigned so that, if Church Avenue ceases to be a terminal after the reconstruction, then 4th Avenue could become the G terminal instead of Smith-9?It seems that more G riders care about the BMT transfer from the G at 4th Avenue than the extension to Church Avenue. Suppose the G pulls into 4th Avenue as its last stop, and the crew changes ends while it cleans out the train, then the T/O pulls out northbound into the relay area and waits for the departure time. Of course the relay area would be between 4th Avenue and Smith-9, instead of at 4th Avenue; relocated switches would allow that move. That wouldn't take any longer than the current process at Smith-9. |
