Quite a few expansions happened after the war. The rest of the Fulton line opened (although truncated), the connection to the Liberty El, the entire takeover to Rockaways, and others. The car changed a lot, but that was a national trend, not just in the skapegoat of Moses' New York. Cities were ripping up their trolley systems and building interstate highways all over the country, not just New York. Moses was good at bringing money for those projects to New York. it's not like that money would have went to "transit" if not for Moses. Instead, the money would have not come to New York at all, and would instead have went to some other city for "their" road and bridge projects. |
