Hi guys,

On a couple of other sites it stated that Woodhaven Blvd / Slattery Plaza was the name for this subway stop and for the intersection of Queens Blvd. & Woodhaven Blvd. I seem to remember that when I was a college student (circa 1971-1975) I used to go shopping there, and it wa s already in those days an indoor shopping mall, i.e. the antecedent of the Queens Center Mall.

Unless my memory is totally buggy, in those days wasn't the mall called "Woodhaven Mall" or "Slattery Plaza?" Also - wasn't there an entrance, via the mezzanine level of the subway, to the basement level of one of the department stores? I AM certain of this, b/c I never actually stepped outside when shopping in that mall. The windows are still there, or remnants of them, but nowadays you cannot see into the store through them, nor can you enter the mall via the subway.

the truth is: I never saw the Queens / Woodhaven Blvd. intersection itself until I returned to the area in 2005, when I started working at the Elmhurst Jennifer Convertibles.

Does anyone else have similar memories of the mall in the early - mid 1970's?

Cheers,
Frantic
