It wasn't the first or only time to Shea as a kid so it wasn't too disappointing to not ride the subway that time. In fact it may have been the only time I didn't take the subway to Shea, including to see The Beatles,It's funny that you say that. Until I was 9 y/o (about 1974) we lived near to West Farms Sq area. We used to often visit my aunt who lived on Light St near to Dyre Ave station. We'd take the #5 train which I absolutely loved, especially looking at the trains in the yard as we waited at E. 180th St. Then once the train left the station seeing all of the work trains and such just north of the station. Sometimes we'd get a ride home or if it was very late we'd take a cab home which was always a disappointment to me as I felt cheated out of a subway ride, lol |
