Was it ever "Eastern District" instead of "division"?

I know it's named after the section of Williamsburg.

The J might be the best line in the system. Mostly outdoors(but just enough tunnel time). Goes over a bridge. Mostly good neighborhoods. Not heavy ridership compared to other lines. New equipment. Not too long or short.
