They did boom - when its businesses crashed to the floor.

In college Freshman English class in 1974, I wrote a 2 or 3 page composition on the foolishness of it (I knew it was inevitable at that point) that businesses could not thrive if transportation was cut off to get to them. The professor liked it very much.
