There was a plan for it.
The next station was Merrick Blvd.. which should have been built, even if the rest of the Phase Two route wasn't.
There was Plenty of things the MTA did at that time,that should have caused them to be Eliminated from leasing and and Operating the Subway system.

The plan was a milking option to take advantage of the times.
The robbed and stole money from the system,invested more into suburban routes..and watched the city sink lower and lower into desperate failure.

The Bigotry displayed by the Transit system,is still on full display for the public to see, with "token booth agents" sitting watching All day/night without interaction with riders in Their capacity.
It's so bad Now, that they react to a passenger asking a question like THEY WERE DISTURBING THEM.

TRAINS... NIMBYS didn't stop the Jamaica lines eastern extension.
The MTA did.
