From what I had seen from Google Maps on view through satellite mode, there is no switching off from the LIRR at White Pot Junction, but the tunnel openings coming out underneath are still there. It is a straight rail run between Rego Park and Forest Hills. However, there is a parking lot with asphalt pavement that is over the former railroad ROW, in the vicinity south of Metropolitan Avenue. Also, the overpass bridge once used by trains crossing Union Turnpike does not seem to be there, and there was probably some past damage that necessitated to have it removed. Then there is the school bus parking lot that took over the junction and some former ROW at Atlantic Avenue. -William A. Padron ["Brooklyn Manor"] |
