Its finally over.I remember when the 42s were backbone of the Eastern Div and rode them daily on the J line, even remember them dominating the L before the 143s took over. It was great when they were transferred to the A/C lines and later on Jamaica Yard about a decade ago. I'm glad we got an extra 10 years or so out of the 42 Fleet, so I can't complain about them finally being retired. I enjoyed them as railfan and they was comfortable as a regular rider. I probably rode the 42s the most out of all the stainless steel SMEE's that got replaced by the 160s. With that being said, ENY is now 100% NTT!!!! According to the old timers on here, ENY was historically a dumping ground and now its entirety made up a shiny, modern, fancy new tech trains. |
