Most Broadway-Brooklyn locals, which is all half the stations got east of ENY with skip-stop service, still got Standards, and a transfer to an express at Elderts Lane or Eastern Pkwy. The Jamaica el was a schlep, but quite fast west of ENY, even with R16's. The IND never did a good job in serving the financial district. The E train to Broadway-Nassau was a long ride, and that was still short of Wall Street. Back then the area was very stratified - financial firms near Wall STreet, insurance firms near Fulton Street, mostly along William STreet. |
