LION first rode the old Arnines on the Queenxszboro lines baack in the 60s.Him not think old they were, just a tad old-fashioned. Dad told me they were the best cars on the subway. But then he was a dyed in the wool IND rider, his mom lived on that line, and the train stopped at the RCA building, so why would he ever see another subway line. When I started rail-fanning I went on the BMT at 34th Street, and the R-27s were the cat's meow. And then came the 32s. LION wandered over to the IRT and found him there decent cars, older than the 27s but newer than the 9s. Occasional LoVs were to be found during the rush hours, and that set me looking for the oldest cars on the subway. I thought I hit GOLD on the 3rd Ave El, but then I got on the Myrtle... And there, there indeed were the oldest cars on they system. ROAR |
