The news reports keep saying the train brakes weren't applied by the crew, but were applied automatically. What does this mean? Did the engineer and conductor both ignore the alerter for 60 seconds, and then it timed out? Were the emergency brakes activated because the train broke apart? Need some clarification here.Rob |
