I believe as was mentioned in another post that the structure is used to carry electrical cables from a substation to the eBway Bkln el. A similar situation in Manhattan existed but for a shorter period when the 3 Av el between 34 St and 42 St had to be kept up for a year after the 3 Av el ceased operations to supply power from a Manhattan el substation to the Flushing Line. |
