Yes, there's space up to White Pot, but through Woodside there's none. You've got the 7 above, 61st St below, and apartments flanking the sides. I'd say either a single track (double where possible) or time shared lower Montauk. Run via the Montauk cutoff and dive down to the 63rd St tunnel from there. Plus you also have then easy access to the S4th St station (via Bushwick branch) should the tunnel from Houston St ever get built. Again, it'd have to be done in a manner that allows freight operations to continue to some degree. |
